According to Country & Town House, Claire Hester, design director at British bedding brand Christy’s, says an ideal summer bed should feel light, airy and relaxing. She recommends replacing heavy bedding with breathable materials such as organic cotton, seersucker or linen, which can help regulate body temperature. Pairing them with white and natural tones can also create a fresh, bright atmosphere in the bedroom.

Richard Boyle, CEO of bedding brand Yves Delorme, says summer bedding should feature fewer heavy layers and instead incorporate finer fabrics, softer colors and natural fibers. He recommends adding a lightweight, textured bedspread at the foot of the bed to create visual depth without making the bed feel too warm. Natural materials such as fine cotton or high-density percale are particularly good choices because they are breathable and feel cool and fresh against the skin, helping reduce that stuffy feeling while sleeping.
Harbor House Living, for example, offers its smooth, soft-to-the-touch Cooling Stretch Jersey Sheet Set, as well as a reversible TENCEL cooling comforter designed specifically for hot sleepers. Inspired by a coastal hotel recommended by the Michelin Guide, the reversible comforter features TENCEL filling fibers and a cooling nylon outer fabric for breathability and comfort throughout the year. Its temperature-regulating design is intended to help maintain a dry, comfortable sleeping environment throughout the night, making it particularly suitable for people who tend to sleep hot or sweat at night.

Another option is the Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set. Made from soft bamboo fabric, the sheets conform comfortably to the mattress. Although the material has some weight to it, the fabric itself is lightweight and breathable enough to allow air to circulate easily, helping keep sleepers comfortable throughout the night.
Interior designer Rebecca Udall says summer bedding is all about the idea of “less but better.” Adding lightweight materials such as thin blankets and cotton gauze, along with a top sheet, can strike a balance between comfort and style. Natural fibers such as organic cotton allow the skin to breathe, while light-colored bedding and a lightweight throw can create a more relaxing and comfortable sleep environment.
Summer 2026 bedding trends are also putting greater emphasis on personal style. Claire Hester notes that reversible sheets and duvet covers are becoming increasingly popular. With two different looks in a single set, they offer a practical and cost-effective way to switch up the mood of a bedroom whenever desired.
Nature-inspired designs also remain a major trend this year. Botanical prints, hand-drawn floral patterns and soft earth tones can all bring a calm, natural feel to the bedroom. Buffy’s Breeze Sheet Set, for example, comes in nearly 35 neutral and bright shades, along with a variety of patterns, making it easy to coordinate with almost any bedroom style.
