Modern high-end American cuisine leader Neal Fraser and event producer Shelby Russell jointly hosted the inaugural Hollywood on the Coast Food & Wine Festival on June 13. The event was held at the iconic seaside luxury hotel in Santa Monica, the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows.

As a high-end roaming culinary experience, the festival combined ocean breeze, sunset views, and live music. The venue brought together entertainment, culinary artistry, and philanthropy, welcoming hundreds of influential guests from the entertainment industry and Los Angeles’ thriving restaurant scene. The gathering included producers, studio executives, celebrities, taste-makers, and industry leaders, creating a vibrant and creative evening against the breathtaking backdrop of the California coastline, where culture and world-class cuisine took center stage.

This year’s culinary program was led by acclaimed chef Neal Fraser, whose celebrated restaurants Redbird and Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles have become landmark dining destinations. From Michelin-starred teams and James Beard Award winners to beloved local restaurants and rising culinary talents, the event showcased a rare all-star lineup of chefs. Fraser oversaw the overall culinary curation, designing a tasting journey that highlights Los Angeles’ culinary creativity and cultural diversity.

Upon entry, guests were greeted with a salmon “pizza” ,fresh salmon paired with cheese and a crispy base resembling fried ramen. Paired with red wine, the richness on the palate was immediately amplified.

Two shrimp dishes each offered their own character: one was flame-cooked on-site, carrying the warmth and intensity of grilled seafood, reminiscent of South American sunshine; the other was served in a Japanese-style broth, delivering pure oceanic freshness.

A melon paired with raw fish made for an excellent pairing with drinks, making it hard to stop after just one bite.

One of the most memorable vegetarian dishes of the evening was a creative reinterpretation of Dahi Puri, an Indian street snack. It replaced part of the yogurt sauce with avocado purée, resulting in a creamier texture and a layered, surprising mouthfeel.

Alongside food, wine, and music, guests enjoyed innovative and bold culinary creations as well as a curated selection of fine wines, premium spirits, craft cocktails, artisanal beers, and thoughtfully chosen non-alcoholic beverages, delivering a full sensory experience.
The event also carried a philanthropic mission, with 100% of proceeds from the evening donated to Variety – the Children’s Charity of Southern California and the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation, which supports film industry professionals facing hardship.
